Three Must See Stops for Families Visiting Singapore

If you plan to head out to Singapore this year with the kids, there are plenty of great places to take the whole family. While many may think of Singapore as a city filled with hot nightclubs and wildly expensive hotels, the city has so much to offer to families with kids in tow. From heading out for a day of adventure at the local zoo to exploring everyone’s inner child at Universal Studios Singapore, this is one city that has plenty of fun on offer for every member of your family.

A Day in the Park

When the city of Singapore decided to be a city within a park instead of the other way around, plenty had doubts. But the end result of this decision is the glorious Gardens by the Bay, a garden like few others that winds through the city and fills it with beauty all year long. With its multiple zones that feature hundreds of flowers, plants and trees the park is 250 acres of exotic wonder.

The kids will be fascinated by the many birds and insects, but all of you are bound to be thrilled when you walk among the clouds on the elevated walkways. Bring a picnic, have a snack at one of the many cafés scattered around the park or simply buy a treat from the local vendors as you view a cornucopia of botanical treasures.

Hanging with Shrek and Friends

While there is plenty more to see than the big green guy, your kids will probably demand to head out to the land of Far Far Away when you visit the Universal Studios Singapore amusement park. In addition to the zone of fairy tales of all types, you can check out a world based on science-fiction or see ancient Egypt as it may have been, at least in the movies, and more.

There are seven zones in all, covering such locations as New York City, Hollywood, Madagascar and a land that time forgot in Lost World. Each zone is based on one or more of the famous films made by Universal Studios and as usual are top notch entertainment that will have the kids screaming in delight, or joyful fear. It can be hard to tell them apart sometimes. Each zone has themed rides, cafes to get off your feet for a bit and an immersive experience that will both thrill and excite every member of the family.

Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

The Singapore Zoo is considered one of the most advanced in the world, and one trip to it will show you why. This open plan zoo is filled with tons of great animals, all living in spaces that look and feel like home and without the bars and cages that have been so long a part of most zoos. The family can book breakfast with the orangutans, help feed the elephants and splash around to cool off in the huge water park in the kid’s section. Plan on spending the entire day and bring a change of clothes for everyone because you are all going to want to jump into the fun at that water park at the end of the day.
